If you’re a traveler like us, COVID has really put a damper on your vibe! With states and countries on lockdown, restricted air travel and precautions to stay 6 feet apart, it can be really hard to imagine when our bags will be packed again for our next trip. Fear not friends, vacationing during COVID is STILL POSSIBLE with a little imagination, creativity and planning. Here are our tips for slipping some vacay moments into life during quarantine!

Pack those bags, we’re going camping: If you’ve been cooped up for too long inside, head to the great outdoors! Go hiking in the woods, roast some marshmallows, and enjoy a night sleeping underneath the stars. If nothing else, at least packing up for your trip will bring back those giddy “we’re going on a trip” feelings again!
Cook an exotic meal: One of our favorite parts of traveling is enjoying new foods, but that doesn’t have to stop just because we can’t travel. Find a new recipe for a meal you’ve been craving or look for a cuisine you’ve never tried before. Need inspiration? Explore your local international market to find exotic ingredients for your cooking adventure. Want to add some friends and family? Try a virtual cooking class together or host your own video cooking class, and revel in your home-cooked meal together even from miles apart. Host a Board Game night: Our family is BIG on board games, so being held up in a house with 6 people gives us plenty of time to play! Go classic with some Scrabble or Monopoly, or try some strategy games like Ticket to Ride or Power Grid for an all-out game night. Just remember that you still have to quarantine with your fellow players when you’re done!
Get your heart rate up: While some activities are restricted during COVID, many outdoor sports are safe to do with a partner or small group. Rock climbing, kayaking, paddle board, yoga, golf, tennis – the opportunities to get out and get active are there! It could be the start of a new workout routine or just an excuse to get out of the house. Bring your own equipment or some extra cleaning wipes to keep yourself clean and protected.
Rest and recharge: Everyone loves a bit of pampering, and there’s no reason that quarantine has to stop that. Make yourself an “at home” spa day complete with mani-pedis, face masks, hair treatments and even a nice soak in the tub. Add some calming music, scented candles and maybe a glass of bubbly to create a peaceful and relaxing environment.
Zoom dates with friends and family: Everyone is using video calls during the separation to stay connected with our loved ones near and far. But how can we spice up your weekly family chats?! Try adding a theme to your zoom calls! For example, an amazing family friend decided to do a hot sauce night. They sent their family members 3 bottles of different hot sauce, which they taste-tested together over video chat. They’ve also done make your own Bloody Mary night, movie nights, and trivia! Whatever you choose, a unique theme for your chats will surely add excitement!
Explore local vacation spots: When Matt and I plan our vacations, we tend to look for exotic, different places that are usually far from home. But we often forget about the local attractions in our own backyard! While traveling has been restricted, take this time to explore the hidden gems in your own hometown. Find a new hiking trail, check out a new winery, or visit attractions you haven’t seen in a while. You never know what adventures are waiting right next door!
Check out the museum: Let’s get a dose of culture, shall we? Did you know that many famous museums are hosting virtual tours during COVID lockdowns? See the Guggenheim in New York, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City all from the comforts of your own couch!
